Maple Leaf Rag – HonkyTonk Piano
“Maple Leaf Rag” written by “Scott Joplin(1868-1917)”.
The music of such a style is called “Ragtime Piano” or “Honky Tonk Piano”.
The original sheet of music is written with straight 4/4 beats, but it is often played in shuffle-style(Triplet).
Also Keith Emerson, Andre Previn, Toshiko Akiyoshi and many other players love this title and recording.
Emerson and Previn play straight-style, Akiyoshi plays shuffle-style
I played shuffle-style. When I took this video, the piano of my studio was out of an interval because I did not tune it. However, the sound was suitable for a honky-tonk piano.
Enjoy!

Gladiolus Rag — Scott Joplin
I’ve been meaning to record this tune for a while now…the recording isn’t PERFECT (especially the last bit), but I consider it to be a pretty decent runthrough overall. Considering how many repeats there are in the song, it’s as good as its going to get.
Comments are appreciated!

xavier rudd – food in the belly – 08/08/09 st. louis @ the pageant
Xavier Rudd playing the Pageant in St. Louis, MO on 08/08/09. Food in the Belly which turns into a drum and bass jam with Xavier running in front of me at about 5 minutes, then through the crowd on the floor, and eventually back on stage. He busts out some Aborigenal moves, leads the crowd in some call and response, then heads to his rig to bring back the groove and close out the jam.
