Why does Michelle Obama have 26 tax payer funded assistants?

May 28, 2010 - 1:36 pm 10 Comments

Never in the history of the White House has a First Lady spent so much on so many personal assistants, all paid from taxpayer dollars.

Hilary had three; Jackie Kennedy one; Laura Bush one; and prior to Mamie Eisenhower, social help came from the President’s own pocket.

Michelle Obama has 26 – from makeup artist Ingrid Miles and hairstylist Johnny Wright to her "chief of staff" Susan Sher, whose salary is $172,200.00.

The First Lady does not get paid to serve as First Lady, and she doesn’t perform any official duties. But this hasn’t deterred her from hiring an unprecedented number of staffers to cater to every whim and satisfy every request in the midst of a great Recession.

Sort of makes one think the White House has been mistaken for theVersailles Court of Marie (let ‘em eat cake) Antoinette, doesn’t it?

This adds up to a whopping $1,600,700.00 and the amount doesnt include the elite benefit packages granted to the White House staff and their significant others (include same-sex partners). Nor does the figure take into account the salaries for the two additional full-time staff members mentioned by Mrs. Obamas Press Secretary nor the full time hair-dresser and makeup artist assigned to her. A guesstimate of the total salaries for Mrs. Obamas attendants is $1,750,00.00 plus the additional benefits.

Who actually APPROVES and allocates this funding???

GUESS WHO????"In my own life, in my own small way, I have tried to give back to this country that has given me so much," she said. "See, thats why I left a job at a big law firm for a career in public service," Michelle Obama.

Miz Michelle, who requires 26 personal assistants at a cost of $1,750,00.00 plus change- – - the only change American taxpayers can believe in!!!

http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/12652

And other than looking good sleeveless, what humanitarian cause has she championed? (NONE)
ALL 1st ladies chose a cause to improve the country.
Michelle needs $2MILLION annually in staff and contributes NOTHING to America other than a fashion statement! (She doesnt’ even watch her OWN kids…her mom does….who also lives with them). Michelles’ staff doesn’t include her hair or make-up stylist. The list for Laura is one of many floating around on the internet, all with different figures. I wouldn’t rely on it’s accuracy without a source listed AND researched. The only site I saw that (now) lists a source showed Michelles staff cost 40% MORE than Laura’s annually.

Considering we are at 10% unemployment, and this president ran on the premise that he would ELIMINATE wasteful spending, (but instead has outspent EVERY other president in history collectively in 10 short months), you’d think we’d see a reduction in spending, not an increase, esp. of these kinds of percentages.

Also I don’t believe the economy is improving – I know of MORE, not LESS people who are out of work…again, someone is fudging the numbers …much like our national deficit which they claim is about 10% of what it actually IS.

Should the FSA be getting £33million pounds in bonuses considering their failure to regulate the banks ?

May 25, 2010 - 5:54 pm 2 Comments

THE Financial Services Authority is an independent body set up to regulate the financial services industry in the UK.

It is a company limited by guarantee and financed by the financial services industry. It was created from the Securities and Investments Board by Gordon Brown, then the Chancellor, as part of the realignment of financial regulation he adopted in 1997.

The Treasury appoints the FSA board, which currently consists of a chairman, a chief executive officer, three managing directors, and nine non-executive directors (including a lead non-executive member, the deputy chairman).

The authority has confirmed that it will be paying out bonuses to staff this year equivalent to around 15 per cent of their salaries. Reports suggest that the total bonus bill could reach £33 million. But FSA chief executive Hector Sants will not be taking a bonus. He was paid £662,000 last year, including a £114,000 bonus.

The chairman of the FSA is Lord Adair Turner while the post of deputy chairman is vacant following the resignation of Sir James Crosby.

I think it`s digusting, we the tax payer have bailed out all these banks so are we not now "shareholders"….will we get a share of the profits? No and why…because we are MUGS…i vote we all stop paying our taxes…then lets see how the goverment afford new kitchens for their second homes..etc.

There has NEVER been anyone in the White House at any time who has created such an army of staffers whose sole duties are the facilitation of the First Lady’s social life.

While I am not an Obama supporter, I have seen this email on more than one occasion. The true facts are that most of these people are White House staffers, they work for the White House but not exclusively for Michelle Obama. As many as 20 of these staffers just happen to have First Lady within their title so there is a portion of their time that is used for some of Michelle’s benefit, but they are not full time.

Anyone that knows me, knows that I do not like Obama’s policies, neither did I nor would I vote for him.

My goal when answering is to give truthful answers, even if it pertains to a person that I do not support.

I think that anyone that would be willing to research this (without using snopes.com) would find that this email that you have received is stretching the truth, it is true but it is not fully true since the implication is that these people serve Michell exclusively.

Do you agree, Prime Minister Gordon Brown has done well?

May 19, 2010 - 6:47 am 8 Comments

LONDON — The deputy leader of Britain’s governing Labour party says the government will try to stop a former banking boss from receiving an annual pension of 693,000 pounds, or about $990,000 US.

Former Royal Bank of Scotland chief executive Fred Goodwin resigned in November when RBS ran into difficulties and was propped up with 20 billion pounds in public money.

On Thursday, RBS reported a full-year loss of 24.1 billion pounds.

Deputy Labour chief Harriet Harman told the BBC on Sunday that Goodwin shouldn’t expect to get the full amount of his pension "because it is not going to happen."

She suggested the government could look to change laws to deal with the issue.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown has said that Goodwin’s pension is unjustifiable.

I have done very well here. You see this aint about Goodwin & his pension – oh no ! I have sprung a beartrap on that horrible woman Harman who is sneaking about trying to get my job. I got her to say we would change the law to get one man – this is obviously the mark of a totalatarian sate -and now I will not back her.

She looks like a fool !
well done me

On Friday, April 30, 2010, at 2 p.m., behind police headquarters on Grosvenor Street, the Toronto Police Service will announce a one?year evaluation of the BMW R1200RTP police motorcycle and an alternative police motorcycle uniform.

Deputy Chief Tony Warr will be on hand to welcome the new motorcycles and inspect the uniforms worn by officers chosen for the evaluation.

The Toronto Police Service has used a variety of motorcycles, dating back to 1912, including Harley Davidson, BMW, Honda, Henderson, Norton and Triumph.

It is important that the public is aware of this evaluation as the motorcycles will be used in general traffic patrol and enforcement duties. These motorcycles have a substantially different appearance from the current motorcycles, along with the uniform the officers will be wearing.

We want to ensure the public is aware that these are Toronto police officers.
The Toronto Police Service must ensure that we stay abreast of advancing technology and equipment that will allow our officers to perform their duties as efficiently and safely as possible. said Deputy Chief Warr, the Executive Sponsor of the evaluation project.
